As you will recall, we asked our readers on July 25 to help our friend Basil achieve the honor due him. We still don’t know if there will be a “Basil Night” at the Columbus Catfish stadium, but we know at least one good thing has come of the effort.
We won a baseball, autographed by the entire Catfish roster! (When I saw “Ivan DeJesus” on the roster, I got pretty excited. But this one was born in 1987.)
We also earned free admission and refreshments at the game on Aug. 25, but sadly cannot attend. But a baseball! Yay!
Yes, he is the son of the former Major Leaguer. Yeah, sorry you won’t be able to make the 1,047 mile drive … but we’ll be thinking about you.
