Imagine a torpedo that can only be fired by a naval captain who knows his Christian Scripture and doctrine like the back of his hand. After the missile is fired — but before it is armed — it asks a question, such as “what were the names of Lazarus’s sisters?” If the captain gets it wrong, the missile won’t explode.
The advantages of such a weapon are obvious: if it were ever to fall into the evil clutches of Al Qaeda, they would be powerless to use it for violence against us.
