I bid my refugee sister farewell early this morning, and now Colleen and her economy-size dogs are driving into the sunrise. Tonight they will lodge in St. Louis, thence to drive into tomorrow’s sunrise, straight to Chicago, where the only hurricanes are the ones that fit in pint shakers.
UPDATE: Colleen just called me from Locust Grove, some 30 miles off course. She had accidentally exited I-44 somewhere around Catoosa. I gave her directions to Big Cabin, where she can pick up the trail again. Very pretty country over there, probably the prettiest part of the state. I’m glad she’s getting to see it.
